Campsite presentation: Nature Park Ardèchois.
Camping, canoeing and comfort
The Ardèchois Nature Park on the Ardèche River is a paradise for nature and outdoor lovers! Holidays by the river are wonderful: whether canoeing or fishing, caving or hiking – every day offers a different adventure. The Ardèchois Nature Park in central France is located directly on the Ardèche River and is the ideal starting point for a variety of nature experiences and outdoor activities.
For canoeists, theArdèche is the absolute hotspot: beginners and advanced canoeists will find safe and more challenging areas here, and a different adventure awaits every day. No wonder that the Ardèche is one of the most popular rivers for water sports in Europe. In summer, countless colourful boats dance with the rapids, a sporting spectacle that is also great fun when viewed from the shore. But it is not only water sports enthusiasts, such as kayakers or canoeists, who therefore appreciate the Nature Park Ardèchois campsite, located directly on the river. Anyone who prefers to spend their holidays in the middle of the greenery and who values comfort and hospitality will feel at home at this luxurious and well-equipped campsite. Families will be delighted with the wide range of leisure activities on offer: If splashing around on the natural beach or taking a boat ride along the river is no longer fun, there are fortunately plenty of other alternatives: the animation team has put together a colourful leisure programme for children, but also for adults. They can rent a canoe, go canyoning or free climbing, play tennis or mini-golf or swim a few laps in the swimming pool. In the low season, the bathroom and sanitary facilities are heated, and there is a special children’s sanitary area for the little ones. Even without your own caravan, camping holidays de luxe are possible at Nature Park Ardèchois: the spacious site has a wide range of different, comfortable chalets and mobile homes that offer the perfect holiday home in the middle of the greenery under the shady trees.
Thanks to its volcanic origin, the Ardèche region is rich in bizarre rock formations, caves and karst holes. Rugged rock faces guide canoeists along the lively river, and at the world-famous Pont d’Arc the rocks even form a gigantic bridge arch over the water.
Our excursion tip:
Not far from the campsite, at the Pont d’Arc, lies the famous cave ” Chauvet-Pont-d’Arc”, which has also been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2014. It shows the oldest cave paintings known to date, which were created around 36,000 years ago.
The paintings show horses, lions, rhinoceroses and hundreds of other animals. They were engraved into the cave walls with red ochre or flints or drawn on the walls with charcoal. To prevent the murals from being destroyed, the climate in the cave is meticulously monitored. For this reason, it is unfortunately not possible to visit the Chauvet Grotto. However, only a few kilometres from the original grotto, a copy called “Grotte Chauvet 2 Ardèche” allows visitors to admire all the riches of the original.
